Unsere Workshops  sind nicht Sprachkurse im herkömmlichen Sinne: Vielmehr werden Sie "sprachlich tätig". Die Gruppe beschäftigt sich mit Themen und Erfahrungen rund um Lernen und Kommunikation - auf Englisch.

Der Workshop "SL" (nächster Termin im Frühjahr 2011) beschäftigt sich mit Selbst-Lernen und Lern-Strategien im Sprachenbereich. Genau hier nämlich trennen sich erfolgreiche von weniger erfolgreichen Lernern. "SL" ist der Schlüssel, wenn Ihr Englisch schnell große Fortschritte machen soll.

Der Workshop wird in Englisch gehalten, die Techniken und Haltungen lassen sich jedoch nahtlos auf andere Sprachen übertragen.

The Need For Learning Strategy

At the end of the day, no one can teach you a foreign language. You have to learn it yourself.

No doubt, teachers or trainers can be very useful in giving you an introduction to the language you'd like to acquire. But they also keep you dependent upon their tuition, their teaching materials and their testing schemes. 

For your benefit, they should do the opposite: make you independent, autonomous. That's what this workshop is for. 

Workshop "SL"

"SL" means: Self-Learning competence through awareness of Learning Strategies. Everyone has strategies to handle foreign language situations. But some, especially the ones acquired in school, are not very useful. Others, like those employed by successful language learners, can be astonishingly effective and plain fun.

The key question for each of us will be: What do I (as a learner) need to do to accelerate my language acquisition process?

Based on current research, we will explore this question by providing hands-on exercises and and some theoretical background information to enable you to develop your learning strategies. After this workshop, your perception of language learning will never be the same.

An English Workshop - Who Should Attend

This is a workshop for learners. We will focus on the learners' perspective. Language teachers are welcome, since they should always regard themselves as learners too.

There are no specific requirements for taking part in the "SL"- Workshop. It will, however, be held entirely in English. Hence you should be an "independent language user" who can understand most of what's said and who communicates easily. You will then enjoy the additional benefit of speaking English for an entire weekend, which by itself will improve your command of the language.

You don't need to be an "independent learner" yet, that's what the workshop is for. But it would be useful if you took at least one language course  (e.g. "Refresh") with us. This gets you started on the path of independent learning, making you more receptive for this workshop.
